Netherlands beat Namibia by 5 wickets in the T-20 World Cup qualifying match
The Netherlands won the qualifying match against Namibia by successfully chasing down the the target of 122 runs in the 20th over with three balls to spare in the fifth game of the qualifying match, played in Geelong.
The Dutch team are now on top of their group, winning both their games and have inched closer to qualifying for the T-20 World Cup super 12 stage.
For his all all-round performance Bas de Leede receives the man of the match award. “The self-belief has always been there and it feels really good to clinch two games,” said the Dutch all rounder.
Speaking about the defeat, the Namibian skipper Gerhard Erasmus said that they could not keep things ‘tight’ in the field which made it easier for the opposition.
The winning captain Scoff Edwards said “we don’t want to be known as the team that leaves it late.” The Skipper admitted Namibian strong bowling by saying “we know Namibia have strong death bowlers but we manage to get over the line and are happy with the opportunity we have created for ourselves to make it to the next round.”
The Netherland’s opener Vikramjit Singh remained the top scorer for his side scoring 39 runs of 31 deliveries.
Bas de Leede and Max O’Dowd played noticeable innings of 30 and 35 runs respectively, leading the team towards a smooth chase.
Namibian bowler J.J Smith picked 2 wickets for 24 runs in his 4 overs spell. While Bernard Scholtz and Jan Frylinck got one wicket each.
Namibian players shocked everyone on Sunday by defeating Asian champions Sri Lanka by 55 runs margin.

Namibia posted 121 runs target:
Namibia have set 121 runs target for the Netherlands in the fifth match of the qualifying round which is played in Geelong.
Namibian batsman Jan Frylinck, who played a crucial role in their win against Sri Lanka, played the responsible innings of 43 runs in 48 balls.
Michael van Lingen and Stephan Baard did cameos to help the team score 121 runs, putting 20 and 19 runs respectively.
The Netherlands bowler Bas de Leede proved out to be the top bowler for his side, picking 2 wickets in his 3 overs spell with an economy rate of 6.
Namibia win toss, bat against Netherlands
Namibia skipper Gerhard Erasmus won the toss and chose to bat against the Netherlands on Tuesday as both teams look to build on opening wins at the Twenty20 World Cup in Geelong.
The African side sent shockwaves around the cricketing world with their stunning 55-run triumph over Asian champions Sri Lanka on Sunday, while the Dutch edged the United Arab Emirates by three wickets.
Another Group A victory for either side would put them in a strong position to move through to the Super 12 stage, when the big guns join the tournament.
