Power companies: Guess who you said was the worst
ISLAMABAD: People filed a total of 12,436 complaints against their power supply companies across the country last year, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has said in a report.
The most complaints were reported against K-Electric (KE): 5,716, from July 2021 to June 2022. This is more than double from a year ago.
KE was followed by the Lahore Electric Supply Company, and Hyderabad Electric Supply Company or HESCO.
NEPRA said that 12,143 complaints were resolved but 635 complaints are still being tackled.
On October 4, Nepra fined the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) Rs10 million for a power breakdown in September 2021. The Jamshoro Grid Station tripped, causing a partial suspension of supply to the HESCO region and Karachi. The NTDC took 2.33 hours to fully restore electricity from Jamshoro Grid Station.
