ECP announces new dates for by-polls, local govt elections

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced that by-polls on eight constituencies of the National Assembly would be held on October 16. Meanwhile, the deferred local body (LG) elections in all districts of Karachi would be held on October 23, while the dates for LG elections in the Hyderabad division will be announced later.

The ECP said that by-elections for the seats of NA-22 Mardan, NA-24 Charsadda, NA-31 Peshawar, NA-45 Kurram, NA-108 Faisalabad, NA-118 Nankana Sahib, NA-237 Malir and NA-239 Korangi would be held on October 16.

The Election Commission has also moved the by-election previously scheduled for October 9 to October 16. The date was change as the nation would observe Eid Milad-ul-Nabi on October 9. The date for polling on three provincial and one NA seat - NA-157 Multan, PP-139, PP-209 Khanewal and PP-241 - will now be held on October 16.
