Terrorism case against me has become a joke: Imran Khan
Imran Khan appeared before a joint investigation team (JIT) in a case related to threatening police officials and a woman judge Wednesday.
“The terrorism case against me has become a joke before the world,” the PTI chairperson said while interacting with journalists afterwards. He said that he had done nothing against the law and the constitution.
Imran Khan arrived at the SPP office to appear before the JIT after being ordered to do so by an anti-terrorism court to become part of an investigation in the contempt of court case against him.
The JIT handed the PTI chief a questionnaire with 21 questions after quizzing him for about 20 minutes.
Imran Khan claimed party donors were being harassed and there would be a backlash on the streets. Lashing out at the coalition government, he said that the more they [government] pushed his party to the wall, the more it was preparing.
He said that he was ready to hold talks with the coalition government only if they announced elections.
“Free and fair elections are the only solution to the economic crisis,” Imran Khan said and said that the coalition government was playing politics in the middle of floods.
“They are trying to crush my party,” he said.
Case background
The former prime minister had been booked in a case with terror clauses after he had stated in a public rally that they would not spare the judge who had approved the remand of Imran Khan’s chief of staff, Shahbaz Gill.
The Islamabad High Court later ordered Imran Khan to join the police investigation in a terrorism case registered against him for allegedly threatening a female judge and top officials of the Islamabad police.
The court ordered the police to complete the investigation and submit their report.
