Pakistan has regretted India’s blatant politicization of the counter-terrorism efforts and processes under the UN Security Council, Radio Pakistan reported on Friday.

“This is not the first time that India has politicized the issue of listing of terrorists by the UN Security Council’s sanctions committee,” Foreign Office Spokesperson Asim Iftikhar said while responding to media queries during his weekly news briefing in Islamabad.

The spokesperson rejected the Indian media’s misleading and malicious reports about the sanctions committee meeting, saying that this act was in violation of rules regarding confidentiality of the Committee meetings and due process.

He said that Pakistan remained the worst victim of terrorism and had been submitting irrefutable evidence to the UN Security Council, regarding India’s involvement in coordinating terror activities inside Pakistan.

He said Pakistan hopes that UN Security Council and the international community will not allow India to misuse UN counter-terrorism procedures and frustrate international efforts to tackle the threat.

About the ongoing Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Independence Day, Iftikhar said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will pay a musical tribute to ‘Pakistan At 75’ through a special rendition by officers of the Ministry.

He said our Missions across the world will also organize numerous events including flag hoisting ceremonies, diplomatic receptions, art expos, sporting events, gala evenings, musical nights, trade exhibitions in addition to strong and unified digital campaigns to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee.

On Kashmir, the Spokesperson reiterated Pakistan’s call to international community to demand an end to India’s gross human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and reversal of its unilateral and illegal actions of 5th August 2019. He said pressure be built on India to implement relevant UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.

He said it is the direct responsibility of the UN to make sincere and concerted efforts to resolve this long lingering dispute.
