Rana Sanaullah warns PTI against announcing another sit-in
Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has warned the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against announcing another sit-in, stating that its workers and supporters would not be allowed to enter Islamabad again this time.
“PTI should not be given a free hand. If they try to stage a sit-in in Islamabad, I’ll see how they cross barriers this time,” the interior minister said while speaking exclusively in an interview on Aaj News talk show Faisla Aap Ka with host Asma Shirazi.
“When PTI invaded Islamabad, I said that Imran Khan should be arrested,” the interior minister said referring to PTI’s May 25 long march against the incumbent government.
The interior minister, while talking about the Punjab chief minister elections scheduled for tomorrow (Friday), said that even if Chaudhry Parvez Elahi became the chief minister, his party would not let him take a single step.
Earlier in the day, during a press conference, the interior minister had said that conscientious MPAs would never vote for Elahi in the Punjab chief minister elections.
Reacting to PML-Q’s Chaudhry Pervez Elahi’s statement that Imran Khan would dissolve the assemblies of Punjab, the interior minister said that if the PTI chief wanted to hold early elections he should dissolve the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly, adding that their members of the National Assembly should also resign.
Sanaullah said that the coalition government would not tolerate any blackmailing and intimidation.
Commenting on the appointment of the new Chairman NAB, he said that the new chairman was a man of integrity and he would not be pressured by anyone and would run the institution on merit.
“The establishment is neutral and is not involved in any unconstitutional interference,” he said while responding to the question regarding the role of the establishment in the elections.
The interior minister said that his party did not need anyone’s support in the election. “PML-N is not paying any political price for making the government,” Sanaullah added.
