LAHORE: An eight-year-old girl burnt to death when lightning struck Dera Ghazi Khan on Wednesday, while six people were injured in various parts of Punjab due to lightning and roofs of houses collapsing. Record-breaking amounts of rain have been lashing the province since yesterday.

A husband, wife and a twelve-year-old girl were injured when the roof of a house collapsed in Sialkot due to rain. An eight-year-old girl was burnt to death and three people were injured due to lightning in Dera Ghazi Khan.

Low-lying areas in various districts including Sheikhupura, Nowshera Warkan and Sialkot were inundated due to which the traffic system was severely affected.

Lahore has been the worst affected during this spell of rain, with low-lying areas and major highways flooded. Lahore’s Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has been draining areas since last night but water will only be completely cleared a few hours after the rain stops.
