Pakistan would get around $2 billion from the International Monetary Fund, not $1 billion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Tuesday. The update was shared with him via Finance Minister Miftah Ismail.

“I told one of my partners that $2 billion will be given choosers and I will not use the other word [beggars] as some people get upset,” he said while addressing the ‘Turnaround Pakistan Conference’ in Islamabad. “But, this is the reality as self-reliance is important.”

The premier said that Rs230 billion worth of amount would be collected through the ‘super tax’ and it would go into current expenditure and office expenses. “It will solely be sent on Pakistan economy,” he said, “It will boost economy and exports.”
