An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 that struck Afghanistan early on Wednesday has killed at least 920 people, disaster management officials said, with more than 600 injured and the toll expected to grow as information trickles in from remote mountain villages

The tremors were also felt in parts of Islamabad as well as major aras across the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with at least one death being attributed to roof caving in due to the tremors.

As part of its contribution to relief efforts in neighbouring Afghanistan, the provicial government has ordered the KP health department to dispatch teams on the group to help people in Khost city. The provincial govt is also working to streamline food and medicine supplies to the affected areas.
