KP, North Balochistan celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr today
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa celebrates Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday as congregational prayers were held in various cities of the province. The religious festival is also being celebrated in various districts of North Balochistan, including Chaman, Killa Saifullah, Qilla Abdullah, Zhob, Sherani, Loralai, Dukki and Kohlu.
Peshawar zonal committee had announced 130 sightings of Shawwal’s moon in various parts of the province. Rest of the country will celebrate the religious festival on Tuesday as the Shawwal moon was not sighted, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced Sunday.
A major congregation was held in Peshawar’s Eidgah Ground where Maulana Tayyab Qureshi led the prayers of the festival.
KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan along with cabinet members, including Shaukat Yousafzai, Arif Ahmedzai, and other officials offered the prayers in Governor House.
Special prayers for the safety and security of the country were held on the occasion.
KP’s acting governor Mushtaq Ghani refused to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday.
The rest of the country will celebrate the religious festival on Tuesday as the Shawwal moon was not sighted, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced Sunday.
Eid-ul-Fitr in other parts of world
Eid-ul-Fitr is also being celebrated in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, while Muslim communities are also celebrating the religious festival in US, Canada, Japan, UK, France, Netherlands and other parts of the world.
Major congregational prayers of the festival were held in Masjid-al-Haram and Masjid-e-Nabwi with millions of people offered the prayers.
Meanwhile, Muslim communities in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will celebrate the festival on Tuesday.
