Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan on Reconciliation and Harmony in Balochistan Shahzain Bugti, who leads the Jamhooti Watan Party, on Sunday announced his party's decision to part ways with the government and resignation from the federal cabinet citing "lack of attention" from the ruling party towards the province's issues.

He announced his decision while talking to reporters in Islamabad after a meeting with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

"The government has failed to deliver in Balochistan and could not stand up to its promises. The federal government gave us hope that things will improve with its promise to focus on the underdeveloped areas but the people have been disappointed," he said, announcing his resignation from Prime Minister Imran Khan's cabinet in view of the prevailing situation.

"We are standing with the Pakistan Democratic Movement and will do whatever we can," Bugti said.

Prime Minister Imran Khan on July 7, 2021, appointed JWP chief Shah­zain Bugti as his special assistant on reconciliation and harmony in Balochistan. The appointment was made after the premier's hint at starting talks with the insurgents in the province.

To a query over an apparent decision on parting ways, the PM's aide said the coalition party stood with the ruling party for three years but apparently the PTI could not deliver and did not provide the necessary health and food needs of the province. He expressed hope that the JWP with the PDM would work to resolve the lingering issues of the province.

He lamented that "bad mouthing" won't be a solution to the problems and asked the ruling party to speak with facts. "There was no development in South Punjab and a few areas of Sindh and Balochistan. All matters were addressed to end insurgency and only funds were needed to provide resources -- including scholarship, blood bank, and other services." He alleged that the premier in order save politics announced a mammoth of Rs500 billion worth of package but "failed" to provide any amount.

Bugti was of the view that small funds were enough to start short term development projects and resolve the issues.

Bilawal, standing alongside Bugti, alleged that the incumbent government had failed to stand up to its promises.

"We still believe we still have to show Balochistan people that are we ready to resolve the Balochistan issues or not. If we can inaugurate grand projects and hospitals in Balochistan so we can do that in Balochistan. We will always try to raise our voice on genuine issues of Balochistan," Bilawal said and termed the development a "timely and brave decision from Bugti."

Bilawal said: "We will not allow anyone to rig the no-trust vote in the National Assembly. And, I think today the premier will ask 'why I was evicted'."

Talking about the judiciary, the PPP chairman lauded the incumbent chief justice and claimed that some of the past chief justices were "controversial". He alleged that the premier was trying to make the judiciary controversial. "We think whatever decision the CJP takes, and forms any bench, it will be in favour of the country's Consitution."

The PPP chairman expressed his confidence his party's numbers were complete and the united opposition would defeat the premier in parliament.
