Sana Javed faces backlash post legal action against accusers
After being called out by several of her colleagues on social media for alleged bad behaviour and work ethic, Sana Javed decided to take legal action against her accusers. The Dunk actor posted pictures of the legal notice on her Instagram on Friday.
“A proper smear campaign has been initiated against me by a group of individuals,” said Javed, referring to the allegations levied on her by model Manal Saleem, makeup artist Omayr Waqar and stylist Aneela Murtaza a.
“In the past 72 hours I've been subjected to all sorts of lies and fabricated stories, bullying, hate speech and threats,” she added. According to her post, the actor has served notices to three people.
Reacting to Javed’s post about the legal action, her co-star in drama Neeli Zinda Hai, actor Sonia Mishal said, “First of all no one in the world has time to run a ‘proper planned smear campaign’ against you.”
Extending her support to the people who called out Javed’s attitude, the actor acknowledged that it takes courage for someone to speak up. “It makes me so happy to see all these people speak up because I’ve personally experienced her bad behaviours with such good makeup artists on set to a point where I was shocked and felt sorry for the poor hard-working guys who she got replaced three to four times,” she said on her Instagram story.
The entire ordeal began when Saleem shared her experience with Javed on her Instagram stories, which have since expired. “Requesting all the clients to not ask me to shoot with any actress/celebrity ever again. With their self-entitled attitudes they think we are 'do takay ki models,” said Saleem without naming the actor. “The audacity to say that on my face! Hum bhi kam krne atay hain, muft main zaleel honay nahi atay,” she added. Saleem’s story can be seen in the highlights section of her Instagram profile.
The legal notice sent to Saleem by Javed states that the move was “a publicity stunt so as to increase your [Saleem] following at the cost of our client's [Javed] goodwill." The notice also demands for Saleem to retract her story and issue a public apology within 14 days. She’s also liable to pay Rs100 million as damages “for the loss and damage to our client’s reputation, mental agony, torture and suffering.”
Javed also shared the first pages of the tenders sent to Waqar and Murtaza, whether or not they’re liable to pay damages and apologise publicly is unclear.
Makeup artists Rhyan Thomas and Ikram Gohar also posted their experiences with Javed. The most recent accounts against Javed were posted by makeup artist Wajid Khan, stylist Aarinda Tul Nooe and model Mahnoor Sheikh.
