Iran launches new missile and drone strikes after Trump threat
2 min readIran launched a new wave of air strikes targeting Israel and Gulf countries on Thursday, hours after US President Donald Trump said Washington had crippled Iran’s military and was close to achieving its war objectives.
Israeli media reported that missiles fired toward northern Israel were intercepted by air defence systems, with no casualties recorded.
The Israeli Home Front Command later lifted instructions for residents to remain in shelters.
Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency said the latest strikes were carried out in response to Trump’s claim that Iran’s missile capabilities had been destroyed.
In the Gulf, Saudi Arabia said its air defences intercepted and destroyed four drones in recent hours, without reporting any damage or injuries.
Authorities in Abu Dhabi also confirmed that air defence systems intercepted a missile near the Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD).
Officials said the incident caused minor damage but no injuries, urging the public to rely on official sources and avoid spreading unverified information.
Earlier in the day, the United Arab Emirates said its air defence systems had responded to incoming missile and drone threats at around 4.30am, with loud explosions heard across several areas.
The defence ministry said the sounds were the result of successful interceptions and issued alerts advising residents to seek shelter during the incident.
Muslim group slams Trump’s remarks
Meanwhile, the US-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) condemned Trump’s remarks threatening to send Iran “back to the Stone Age,” calling them “anti-Muslim, racist and dehumanising.”
The group also criticised the ongoing military campaign, describing it as an “illegal war of aggression,” and urged US lawmakers to take action to curb further escalation, including passing a War Powers Resolution and reviewing the role of senior defence officials.
