Aleem Khan, Nawaz Sharif "on same page" after London meeting: reports
Estranged PTI leader and Punjab assembly lawmaker Aleem Khan and three-times former prime minister Nawaz Sharif are on the same page regarding the political situation in the country, reported Aaj News citing sources.
Khan flew to London on Wednesday to hold meetings with Sharif as well as Jahangir Tareen, after joining the latter's "like-minded" group of dissident PTI parliamentarians.
As per sources, Khan will not officially join the PML-N, and will lead the so-called like-minded group of the PTI that includes those who support Jehangir Tareen. Khan joined Tareen's PTI faction on Monday with the purported aim to save the party after "loyalists were sidelined" following PM Imran's rise to power.
He also conveyed his reservations regarding the performance of Punjab CM Usman Buzdar, said sources close to Khan.
Local publication Geo News, citing sources privy to the development, said that former finance minister Ishaq Dar and Nawaz's sons Hasan and Hussain were also present in the meeting which lasted for three hours.
Before his departure for London, Khan had also met PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif in Lahore.
Jahangir Khan Tareen, who is currently in the UK, was not part of the meeting.
Meanwhile, sources close to Tareen claim that some members within the faction have expressed reservation over Khan's nomination as Buzdar's replacement.
The development comes on the heels of the no-confidence motion by the united opposition seeking PM Imran's ouster as both the government and opposition try to woo lawmakers to get the requisite number for the motion.
