Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Friday asked the government that if there was anyone listening to the entreaties of hundreds of Pakistani students stranded in Ukraine waiting to be evacuated.

Expressing concerns over Pakistani students stranded in Ukraine, PML-N Vice President said in a tweet that hundreds of Pakistani students were awaiting deportation in Ukraine.

Maryam's remarks come after a video went viral on various social media platforms in which Pakistani students were seen stranded in an underground train station, requesting for safe evacuation.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Embassy in Ukraine announced in a tweet that Ukraine’s airspace was closed while the students had been asked to remain in their locations till the situation was improved.

The Embassy further said that Pakistani nationals have been directed to reach Tarnopal city from where arrangements will be made for their evacuation.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had said that Pakistan’s Embassy in Ukraine was in contact with the country’s students and refuted claims about the death of any student. Qureshi further said that he, before leaving for Russia, had directed the Pakistan's ambassador in Ukraine to ensure the safety of the Pakistani diaspora, including students, there in any uncertain situation.

Foreign minister further said that the foreign office was in contact with the embassy for shifting students from apparently risk-prone areas to a safe location and returning students to home.
