Khushdil Shah's last-over blitzkreig - three fours and a six - helped Multan Sultans cross the line against Lahore Qalandars in the third match of the Pakistan Super League's (PSL) seventh edition.

A flurry of late wickets disrupted Sultan's chase of the 207-run target with the equation down to 16 from the last six balls.

Captain Mohammad Rizwan with fellow opener Shan Masood laid the foundation of the chase with half-centuries, before a stutter until Khushdil's arrival in the last over.

Masood's departure - bowled by the ever impressive Rashid Khan - triggered a mini-collapse that saw Shaheen Afridi taking three wickets.

It set the stage for Khushdil, who had already done his bit while bowling by taking the wicket of the dangerous Mohammad Hafeez — as he got at least a boundary of each of the four balls he faced from speedster Haris Rauf.

Rashid, with an economy rate of 7, was the only Qalandars bowler to go for less than ten an over.

Qalandar's innings was a built on a hard-hitting start by another left handed opener. Fakhar Zaman scored 76 off 35 deliveries, striking at 217.4, to give his team an electric staff.

Kamran Ghulam provided able support, with some lusty late blows from Namibian international David Weise and Rashid Khan propelling Lahore's total to 206.

For Multan, Englishman David Willey, Shahanwaz Dahani, Imran Tahir and Ihsanullah also took a wicket apiece other than Khushdil.

Defending champions Multan Sultans were playing their second fixture today and are leading the points table with two consecutive wins.

Meanwhile, Lahore Qalandars were playing their first match of the season with Shaheen Shah Afridi as their captain.
