10 soldiers martyred in Kech terrorist attack, confirms ISPR

Ten soldier were martyred in an attack on Tuesday night on a military checkpost in the Dasht area of Balochistan's Kech district on the border of Iran, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Thursday.

One terrorist was killed and several others injured, the ISPR said, while security forces arrested three terorrists in the follow up clearance operation that remains underway.

Banned militant group Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) had claimed responsibility for the attack via messages to journalists and through messaging service Telegram on Wednesday.

As per sources within the security community, 45-50 heavily armed militants launched an attack on a military checkpost that resulted in casualties.

The development was also shared by journalists, with Dawn's Mubashir Zaidi tweeting the information with the message "disturbing development" on Wednesday.

Journalist Farzana Shah of Aaj TV, in her response to Zaidi's tweet, shared details.

Journalist Ihsanullah Tipu Mehsud had also shared the development in a series of tweets, including details of casualties.
