AGP asks Shahbaz Sharif to submit Nawaz's medical reports within 10 days
Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) on Monday wrote a letter to the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif and directed him to submit medical reports of former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif with in next 10 days.
In the letter, the AGP said that Shehbaz was supposed to provide regular “duly notarised” medical reports of his brother to the court as per the undertaking given by him to the Lahore High Court (LHC).
The AGP has instructed Shehbaz to submit Nawaz’s medical reports within the next 10 days to avoid legal proceedings over breach of his undertaking.
The letter stated that if Shahbaz Sharif failed to do so, contempt of court petition would be filed against him.
The letter also mentioned that according to media reports, Nawaz Sharif was in good health. It stated that Nawaz Sharif's condition was described as extreme critical when he was leaving the country but as soon as Nawaz reached London, his condition improved.
The AGP also mentioned the verdict of the Lahore High Court under which Nawaz Sharif was allowed to go abroad for medical treatment. He said that the doctors' instructions had recommended Nawaz Sharif to go abroad for four weeks.
The letter further stated that the affidavit and the court order was violated as Shehbaz did not submit Nawaz's medical reports.
It said that the Punjab government had formed a committee to examine the medical reports of Nawaz but according to committee, report submitted on January 17 didn’t provide any information about Nawaz's current clinical evaluation, blood reports, imaging results and any interventional procedures so far, therefore, the committee could not submit its final opinion in that regard.
The AGP further wrote that before initiating appropriate proceedings before the LHC for breach of undertaking and the order of the court, he had contacted Shehbaz for providing the medical reports as stated in the letter of the special medical board within a period of ten days of the receipt of this letter.
