Prime Minister Imran Khan has once again stirred controversy with his statment, this time on his advice to bankers to wear shalwar kameez in order to facilitate the common man, with netizens questioning the logic behind such a suggestion.

“I want to again pay tribute to banks that it changed so fast that now they also have started talking in Urdu for the common man. If they also [dress their staff] in shalwar kameez, it will be easier, no one would hesitate [in seeking their service],” he said at the end of his speech at a ceremony marking the approval of over Rs100 billion worth of housing loans by private banks under the Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar Scheme on December 24.

This isn't the first time the premier has expressed this view. The last time he suggested wearing shalwar kameez was during an interview to Al Jazeera Arabic two weeks ago.

As expected, one user connected the national dress to the national malaise.

Another user advised PM Imran to suggest something more substantial to resolve the public's issues.

There was also an old picture of the premier, apparently of his cricketing days.

One user was confused whether wearing joggers under shalwar kameez would be giving in to western culture or not.

Moreover, an old video of women talking about PM Imran has also surfaced on social media. The video shows women expressing concerns about the cricketer turned politician's views - including on women's rights.
