PML-N leader retired Captain Muhammad Safdar has come under social media’s fire once again for hateful remarks against Pakistan’s Ahmadi community.

A video of him speaking to the media was posted on Twitter on Tuesday by an online news platform called UNewsTV.com.

Capt. (retd) Safdar is seen talking about the land dispute case against former Supreme Court judge Justice retired Ejaz Afzal Khan.

According to the News, a case was filed against the former judge’s son Saif Ali Khan and brother Sajjad Afzal Khan for allegedly grounding the boundary-wall of a 10-kanal disputed land and opening fire on the PML-N’s MNA Muhammad Sajjad Awan.

Awan is the elder brother of Capt. (retd) Safdar.

“When it comes to Ejaz Afzal, it’s not a case, it’s a hostility,” said the PML-N leader.

“The hostility is such that in the past he served the rebels of the 1973 constitution and the deniers of Kahtam-e-Naboowat as their lawyer. He has fought four cases of Qadianis as per record and that is the reason of the opposition. It’s a spiritual case,” he added.

“It’s a land dispute case, where did spirituality come in it?” asked a reporter.

“Ejaz Afzal has nothing to do with the land, neither does his wife nor anyone else. If it were his land then why did he take over forcefully? Why did he sent security gunmen?” replied Capt. (retd) Safdar. “The respectable at Mansehra have asked me to sign a truce with him, but I said to them, how will I be answerable to my Prophet (PBUH) on the day of judgement if I agree with someone who was the lawyer of your deniers,” he added.

“I’m not worried about inflation, I’m worried about faith of the people of this country,” he said before walking away from the reporters.

His comments have stirred a storm on social media.

Twitter users lashed out at the leader for spreading hate against Ahmadis for the gain of "personal purposes".

"Someone send this genius the memo that Pakistan‘s founding father Quaid e Azam M A Jinnah considered Ahmadis Muslims. How about start with distancing yourself from him," said a Twitter user.

Senior anchorperson Asma Shirazi also took to Twitter and said, "You mean, spiritually and faith have come up in a land dispute case? Religion card can also be used for personal purposes."

"See how these crooks and thieves use religion to cover their sins and corruption," wrote another user.

Twitter user Kamran gave a reality check aimed at Capt. (retd) Safdar and said, " the very constitution he is referring has given equal rights to every citizen of the state whether they are Ahmadis, Christians or muslims, etc. Everyone has right to access and avail legal team if they have any case on them."

This isn't the first time the PML-N leader has landed in hot water regarding remarks on Ahmadis.

Back in 2017, Capt. (retd) Safdar had launched an attack on the Ahmadi community during his speech in the National Assembly. He had called for a ban on hiring members of the Ahmadi community in the armed forces and other institutions of Pakistan.

Social media users had voiced concern over his remarks at that time as well.
