Islamic council slams display of hoor as 'inappropriate'
The Council of Islamic Ideology criticized the displaying of a woman as "hoor" calling it "inappropriate in light of Islamic teachings."
They were responding to a video which viral of a woman who was displayed as a "heavenly figure" during a procession on 12th Rabiul Awal.
In this meeting, the CII members also said naat, marsiya, and qaseeda as songs were against Islamic teachings.
According to a report in Geo, "CII also objected to the ostentatious exhibition of religious rituals and suggested a uniform standard to be maintained when it comes to religious ceremonies."
The widely circulated video of the woman who was put on display as a hoor in Multan caused much outrage on Twitter with people asking what was being done in the name of faith.
PTI member Seema Tahir tabled a resolution in Punjab Assembly saying the matter was a "well thought out controversy."
