Sheikh Rasheed returns to Pakistan to deal with TLP protests
Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed, who was in the United Arab Emirates on two days leaves to watch the Pakistan vs India match, returned on Saturday to deal with the ongoing security situation in the country, according to an Aaj News report.
The report stated that Prime Minister Imran Khan asked Rasheed to return.
The opposition parties have staged protests in multiple cities of the country against the rising inflation. Also the proscribed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) has also started a long march to Islamabad causing severe traffic jams in twin cities and Lahore as the government put barricades ahead of the party's procession to the federal capital.
The protests have so far killed three policemen, while hundreds others were injured during the clashes with the protesting workers and supporters of the TLP.
The banned TLP was protesting against the detention of party's chief Saad Rizvi.
