Zakir and Asmat Jaffer's lawyer says clients not nominated in Noor murder case
Zahir Jaffer's parents aren't mentioned in the FIR against Noor Mukadam's murder so how did they get added as suspects asked their lawyer in court proceedings on Wednesday.
Khawaja Haris, the lawyer for Zakir and Asmat Jaffer, argued that his clients were in Karachi when the murder took place so how could they be named as suspects in the case?
The parents of Zahir, who is accused of beheading Noor in Islamabad on July 20, were granted pre-arrest bail but arrested on July 4 for not submitting bail bonds. Their application for post-arrest bail was dismissed on August 5.
The judge at the Islamabad High Court resumed hearing for their bail application.
Presenting his arguments, Haris said his clients' names was included in the case based on a statement made by Zahir when he was in police custody. He added that they were made suspect because their son made calls to them on the night of the murder.
He said the charges of hiding evidence was added in the case later as were other charges.
Bail pleas rejected Earlier on Tuesday, additional district and sessions judge rejected post-arrest bail applications of the gardener and cook who worked at Zahir's house. They were arrested and charged with abetting the murder.
The court also rejected Tahir Zahoor's application asking to file charges against the Jaffers. Zahoor is the owner of ThrerapyWorks who, along with his staff members, is also accused of trying to conceal evidence in the crime.
