Avenfield reference: Maryam's lawyer excuses himself from representing her
The counsel representing Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz and her husband Capt (retd) Safdar in the Avenfield Apartments case has excused himself from representing his clients.
A two-member bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), comprising Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Moshin Akhtar Kayani, heard the appeals of Maryam and Safdar against an accountability court verdict in the Avenfield Apartment case.
Maryam Nawaz and Capt (R) Safdar appeared in the court but their lawyer Amjad Pervez could not appear in the court.
The court said that unless Amjad Pervez himself withdraws his power of attorney, he is a lawyer for us. But your lawyer can appear and withdraw the power of attorney.
Maryam informed the bench that her lawyer had told her two days ago that he could not pursue her case.
She said she needed one month to find a new lawyer, but the court gave her till September 23 to find a new counsel.
