Chaman border being closed due to security concerns: Sheikh Rashid
ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Thursday has said that Chaman border is being closed for some time due to security concerns.
Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the new building of a police station said that no American soldier is in Pakistan and those who came have gone back. Pakistan’s responsibilities in the region are going to increase, the minister added.
Sheikh Rashid said that there is a difference between national reconciliation and national government, we are ready for national reconciliation and the doors of government are always open for dialogue with the opposition, it is time to take the country forward together and not to spread chaos.
He further said that opposition is more than welcome to hold a long march but this is not a time for such an activity and warned that no one will be allowed to spread unrest in the country.
Talking about Afghanistan the minister said that Pakistan wants peace in Afghanistan, adding that situation at Torkham border is normal but Chaman crossing is being closed temporarily due to security concerns.
Rashid said that National Crisis Cell will be formed soon.
The minister said that the Prime Minister has said that not a single corner of Islamabad should be left without camera. 1,200 cameras have been approved for Islamabad so far, he added.
Interior Minister also expressed heartfelt sorrow over demise of Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Gilani and said that entire nation pays tribute to the freedom fighter, who will continue to live in hearts of the people.
