Indian television and film actor Sidharth Shukla died of a heart attack on Thursday morning, reported The Hindustan Times.

According to the report, the 40-year-old actor was best known for his role in a TV show Balika Vadhu, which made him a household name, and as a winner of Bigg Boss 13.

Quoting an official of Cooper Hospital in Mumbai, the report stated the actor was dead on arrival at the hospital.

The actor began his career as a model, and made his acting debut in a lead role in a 2008 show Babul Ka Aangann Chootey Na.

Shukla was born to a Hindu family in Mumbai. His father was an engineer and mother was a housewife, according to a report in Gulf News. It said the deceased actor held a degree in interior designing, but movies and modeling were “his true calling”.

The deceased actor is survived by his mother and two sisters, it added.

Actors and his colleagues took to Twitter and reacted with shock on the sudden demise of Shukla.
