Almost two weeks into being in control of Afghanistan, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid on Wednesday rejected the rumours of Pakistan’s interference in the affairs of Afghanistan, saying the country had no contribution in the Taliban takeover of Kabul.

He said the Taliban wanted to establish diplomatic and economic ties with the Pakistani government and create feasibility and convenience for Afghan refugees in Pakistan.

“We expect that Pakistan would take similar initiatives for Afghanistan as we are connected with a border,” said the spokesperson in an interview to ARY News.

“We intend to establish cordial relations with Pakistan related to diplomatic and economic ties,” he said.

He further noted =the ISIS have almost been eliminated from Afghanistan with the assurance that the land would not be used against Pakistan.

The Taliban spokesperson emphasized that they intend to resolve the issue of Panjshir through dialogue, however, the group was ready to take administrative steps if the issue didn’t resolve through negotiations.

He claimed that after the passage of 12 days since the group assumed power in Afghanistan, Kabul was slowly moving towards a normal life. “The traffic is smooth and on pace, while schools and other organizations have resumed their work in Kabul,” said the Taliban spokesperson.

However, he added that they were striving to bring everything back to normal pace and progress, adding the banks couldn’t be reopened yet due to technical issues. “We have named a governor for the bank,” he said.

In response to a question over rights to women and girls in Afghanistan, he said Taliban intend to provide all rights to women which have been granted to them in Islam.

“We are making efforts for a reasonable environment for the education and working of women and girls,” he said.

Responding to a question about working of the economy, Zabihullah said the group hasn’t declared that their government has been established in Kabul. “As soon as the government set up is finalized, matters related to economy will be discussed,” he added.

The Taliban spokesperson said they were working to establish a strong and Islamic government in Afghanistan and they intend to include the natives in the government.

He further said: “Instead of giving preference to personalities in the establishment of the new government, we would prefer to consider the consent of Afghans in electing new representatives.”

Zabihullah noted the preparations for the establishment of government would be completed before the final evacuation of foreign troops from Afghanistan. He also categorically denied any extension in the date of evacuation of the pull out of the troops.

The Taliban spokesperson also warned of propaganda against Afghanistan, saying they wanted to establish stable relations with New Delhi with the expectation that India would develop its policy keeping in mind the “benefits for Afghans”.
