PM Khan to decide on Taliban recognition says Rasheed
Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed on Wednesday said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will decide on whether to recognize the Taliban government in Afghanistan.
Rasheed was addressing a press conference in Islamabad when he said attempts to make Pakistan a scapegoat had failed. He said it was a crucial time in Afghanistan and Pakistan wanted to ensure peace in the region and would not allow anyone to use its soil for any terror activities.
He also rejected reports from Indian outlets saying Pakistan had begun receiving Afghan refugees. He clarified that so far only 413 people had come from Afghanistan.
He did say that Pakistan would issue visas on arrival for people coming from Afghanistan including journalists.
He said the borders at Torkham and Chaman borders are open for use after seven day closure. He said security officials are allowing entry after a check of documents.
