KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to keep educational institutions closed across the province till 10 Muharram (August 19).

The Sindh Education Department has said that intermediate exams that had been postponed due to the lockdown will be taken from August 10 (Muharram 6).

Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah while addressing a press conference along with Provincial Minister Ismail Rahu said that schools in the province would remain closed till August 19 as processions start from 7th Muharram which causes problems for students.

Syed Sardar Shah said that vaccinations of teachers and staff would also be monitored and efforts would be made to resolve the discrepancies in the decisions of the federation and the province.

The provincial education minister said that we are still teaching the miracles of radio, we have to review our curriculum, if the school system is improved then parents will bring their children to government schools.

Syed Sardar Shah said that a meeting would be convened again on 8th Muharram to review the situation.

Provincial Minister for Universities and Boards Ismail Rahu said that the boards would work out a new schedule for the examinations.

Ismail Rahu further reiterated that cheating will not be allowed in the examinations.

Earlier yesterday the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), in its meeting with Sindh government, has proposed to extend business hours in Karachi till 8:00 p.m with complete closure on two days a week.
