FIA said on Saturday that it's released the two journalists Amir Mir and Imran Shafqat who had earlier been picked up and reported missing in Lahore.

The men were released on bail.

In an order which was tweeted by Mir's brother Hamid Mir, the FIA said the men were arrested for uploading material against the military, judiciary and women deemed objectionable by the Cybercrime wing of the FIA.

Many people had condemned the men being picked up as soon as the news first surfaced. Politicians, leading human rights activists and journalists took to Twitter to denounce the move and demanded they be released.

Shafqat tweeted an image of himself back at work so his point of view may soon be heard by his followers.

Upon news of their release and circulation of the order, people continued to express their concern about the state of press freedom in Pakistan.

While one user asked why the government felt threatened by different points of views?

However, some took the opportunity to question the journalists' credentials themselves, with one user asking if Shafqat's work qualified as journalism.
