British authorities reject Nawaz Sharif's request for visa extension
British authorities denied former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif's request for an extension in his visa.
According to the reports Nawaz's six-month visit visa had expired, after which he had requested to grant him a six-months extension on health grounds.
The immigration department, however, denied the request.
The government of Pakistan has already canceled Nawaz Sharif's passport and he cannot travel to any other country in the world on this passport.
Back in March this year, the Ministry of Interior refused to extend the passport of Sharif as he had been declared absconder by courts in Pakistan.
Reports said that Sharif holds a right to move the British courts against the rejection of his appeal for visa extension.
PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb told Geo News that Nawaz Sharif can appeal the decision of British authorities with an immigration tribunal and that he can reside in Britain until the tribunal makes a decision .
Nawaz Sharif is in London since November 2019, after the federal government gave him permission to get abroad for medical treatment.
