US President Donald Trump indicated on Wednesday that the United States will assist with the buildup of shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, following the announcement of a temporary ceasefire with Iran.

The pause in hostilities and reopening of the strategic waterway would allow Middle Eastern exporters to move significant volumes of oil that have been stranded in the Gulf since the conflict began.

According to analytics firm Kpler, roughly 130 million barrels of crude and 46 million barrels of refined fuels are currently awaiting transit aboard about 200 tankers.

In a post on TruthSocial, Trump said the US “will be helping with the traffic buildup in the Strait of Hormuz,” adding that “we’ll be loading up with supplies of all kinds, and just ‘hangin’ around’ to make sure that everything goes well.”

The president described the move as potentially ushering in a “Golden Age of the Middle East,” and suggested that “big money will be made” as Iran begins reconstruction efforts.

He did not provide further details on the US role in the process.

Earlier, the Associated Press reported that under the ceasefire, Iran would collect fees from ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, with revenues intended to support reconstruction efforts.
