The National Command and Operation Centre reported 2,145 cases of Covid on Tuesday and a positivity rate of 5.25%, slightly up from figures it released on Monday.

A total of 40,805 people were tested for the infection of which the aforementioned 2,145 tested positive.

Pakistan also reported 37 deaths from Covid in the last 24 hours.

Tuesday's figures brings the total number of coronavirus cases to 993,872, and the number of active cases inches close to 50,000 as it stands at 49,929.

The number of deaths from coronavirus has risen to 22,848 since the pandemic began.

Vaccine statistics

The NCOC also released vaccine statistics showing 24,096,587 had been vaccinated in Pakistan so far.
