LAHORE: Of late, Punjab has seen a remarkable dip in the Covid positivity rate. As per the daily reports shared by Punjab's Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Sarah Aslam,  in the past 24 hours, 18,528 people were sampled for novel coronavirus infection out of which only 141 tested positive. It meant that the daily positivity rate remained 0.7%.

According to the daily update, yesterday, 8 people succumbed to Covid-19 in the province while 202 recovered from the deadly infection. Currently, there are 8,844 active Covid patients present in the region.

As of today, Punjab's Covid-19 statistics look like this:

• Total number of coronavirus tests that have been conducted has exceeded 5.60 million.  

• Total cases have reached 346,036.   

• At least 10,740 patients have succumbed to the deadly flu bug.   

• The number of recoveries currently stands at 326,669.

The government of Punjab has amped up the Covid vaccination drive in the past week or so. Currently, there are 669 vaccination centers fully functioning across the province. In the last 24 hours, Punjab vaccinated 205,737 citizens making it the third consecutive day when over 200k people were immunized in the province. To date, the tally of Punjabis at least partially vaccinated against the viral infection has reached 8,200,136.
