KARACHI: Sindh chief minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday presented budget for the fiscal year 2021-22 with the total outlay of 1477.903 billion rupees.

Chief minister Sindh, who also holds the portfolio of provincial finance minister, said the total volume of the budget for next financial year is 19.1 percent more than previous fiscal year.

On the occasion, he announced 20 percent increase in the salaries of provincial government employees and minimum wages for workers from 17500 to 25000 rupees.

The ten percent increase in the pension of retired employees has also been proposed in the budget.

Murad Ali Shah said spending on development for next financial years has been increased by 41.3 percent.

He said an amount 222.500 billion rupees has been earmarked for Annual Development Programme which is 43.5 percent more than the ADP of current financial year while hundred percent increase has been made in district development programme for next financial year.

Murad Ali Shah said government has decided to continue 30.90 billion rupees social protection programme for the poor as the economic stability package.

He said government has increased the budget for education sector by 14.2 percent with an allocation of 277.56 billion rupees, whereas 172.08 billion rupees have been earmarked for health sector which is 29.5 percent higher than current fiscal year.

The government has allocated an amount of 24.73 billion rupees for infectious diseases including COVID-19.

He announced allocation for agriculture sector has been increased to 15.26 billion rupees form 14.8 billion rupees.

An amount of 119.97 billion rupees has been allocated for the law and order in the province.
