Pakistan on Wednesday has reported 1,118 new cases and 77 COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours as the positivity rate remains below 3% for a consecutive day.

According to statistics shared by National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), the country's nerve center for unified efforts against coronavirus, 43,900 coronavirus tests were taken countrywide, of which only 1,118 came out positive.

There are currently 3,024 critical patients of COVID-19 admitted to different hospitals in the country, however, no new case of severe infection was reported. The reported national positivity rate is 2.54%.

With these latest statistics, the country's total number of confirmed active cases stands at 44,987. Pakistan has so far recorded 936,131 confirmed cases, 21,453 deaths, and a total of 869,691 recoveries from the novel disease.

As per the numbers shared by the Ministry of National Health Service, 92.9% of the total confirmed cases have recovered while the mortality rate is 2.3%.

Currently, most active cases are reported in Sindh (23,699) followed by Punjab (12,669), and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (3,998). There are currently 2,767 active cases in Islamabad, 626 in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, 1,119 Balochistan, and 109 in Gilgit Baltistan.

KP reports lowest deaths since the third wave peak:

KP's Finance and Health Minister Taimur Khan Jhagra on Wednesday shared the province has reported a positivity rate below 2% for the first time since Feburary. He said the province has reported 6 death — the lowest deaths since the third wave peak.

All 25 districts have reported single-digit positivity and only 6 districts — Upper Dir, Buner, Peshawar, Kohat, Karak, and Bannu — have reported a 7-day positivity above 5%, Jhagra added.
