Pak/ Covid: The number of active cases reduces to 47,764
Pakistan continues to contain the third wave of COVID-19 impressively as is evident by the dwindling number of active cases. As of today, active infections in the country have reduced to less than 48,000, which is the lowest number in several weeks. This stat corroborates the authorities' claim that they have been successful in thwarting the third wave of Covid-19.
Also, in the past month, the country has seen the daily positivity rate dropped significantly.
- In the past 24 hours, the Covid positivity rate dropped to 3.1%, which is the lowest since the current wave of the pandemic started.
Due to effective government policies and timely interventions the country has been reporting a fewer and fewer number of new infections daily as the authorities keep lifting lockdown restrictions across the country. Currently, Karachi is the hotspot of the novel viral infection in the country due to which the metropolitan city has stricter restrictions than all other major cities.
Pakistan's latest COVID-19 figures, as provided by the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) are as follows:
• Total cases reported to date have reached 932,140.
• 52,427 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours out of which 1,629 returned positive.
• Positivity ratio has dipped to 3.10% in the past 24 hours.
• Total deaths reported to date have reached at least 21,265.
• Number of Covid-deaths reported in the past 24 hours is 76.
• Number of active cases currently present in the country is 47,764.
• 863,111 patients previously infected with the flu bug have fully recovered.
• Number of people hospitalized in Covid wards in critical condition is 3,303.
