ISLAMABAD: As per the latest National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) directives, coronavirus vaccinations for people aged 30 and above begin today across the country.

This was announced by the NCOC via their official Twitter handle a couple of hours ago. They wrote:

Vaccination for 30 -40 years begins today! Register yourself by sending CNIC to 1166. On receiving SMS, visit the mentioned Vaccination center on the given date (or afterward) and get vaccinated! #VaccinesWork

Yesterday, Asad Umar - the federal minister for planning who also heads the NCOC - also took to Twitter announcing the news. He tweeted:

In today's NCOC meeting it has been decided to open up vaccination for 30 years and older starting tomorrow. The messages for those who are being scheduled will go out today.

From its start, the government of Pakistan adopted a phase-wise registration of Covid vaccinations based on the age of individuals. The health care providers, understandably so, were given priority over everybody else. Then people aged above 65 were registered in phase 1, people aged 60 and above in phase 2, 50 and above, and 40 and above people in phase 3 and 4 respectively and now citizens aged 30 and above are being asked to register themselves for the jabs in phase 5.
