President Asif Ali Zardari tests positive for COVID-19
President Asif Ali Zardari has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently in isolation, according to his personal physician Dr. Asim Hussain who was quoted in a statement issued by the President House on Wednesday afternoon.
The President’s condition is stable, and a team of specialists is monitoring his health, the statement said.
Dr. Asim Hussain confirmed that after multiple medical tests, it was established that President Zardari had contracted COVID-19. Due to an infection and high fever, he was admitted to a private hospital where further medical examinations were conducted.
Reports indicate that President Zardari had offered Eid prayers in Nawabshah on Monday but avoided meeting visitors due to health concerns. His treatment is being overseen by Dr. Asim Hussain.
No truth to reports of transfer to Dubai
Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon earlier clarified in a tweet that President Zardari’s health is improving and dismissed rumors about his transfer to Dubai for treatment. He expressed confidence in the President’s full recovery soon.
Government leaders extend well wishes
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif contacted President Zardari via phone to inquire about his health and wished him a speedy recovery. He expressed prayers for his well-being, stating that the entire nation stands in solidarity with him.
Similarly, Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori called Dr. Asim Hussain to check on the President’s health and conveyed his best wishes.
National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also reached out to President Zardari, offering prayers for his swift recovery and expressing the nation’s support.
