Coronavirus: 468,023 new cases and 9,978 new deaths reported globally
Even after 15 months of its origin, Covid-19- the lethal disease caused by the virus SARS-CoV-2- is still the most talked-about issue in the world. The most worrisome part is that the novel coronavirus is still rampant in most parts of the world and new strains of the flu bug are being discovered in multiple countries.
According to the latest reports, the total number of global Covid cases has exceeded 118 million while more than 2.63 million people have succumbed to the deadly viral infection.
It's obvious that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused unparalleled public health and economic crises globally. Some countries have fared better in the crisis but most of them have found it extremely tough to contain the spread of the virus. Countries like the United States, India, and Brazil have been hit worst.
As of today, the latest global coronavirus situation is as follows:
Total cases: 118,621,244
New cases (last 24 hours): 468,023
Total deaths: 2,631,355
New deaths (last 24 hours): 9,978
Total recovered: 94,245,901
Active cases: 21,743,988
Critical cases: 89,786
Currently, most nations are dealing with second and third waves of COVID. Pakistan too is on the cusp of entering the third wave of the viral infection as the daily tally of cases is significantly increasing for the past week or so after remaining more or less steady in February.
