Smart lockdown expanded in Lahore, Gujranwala, and Gujarat
Lahore: The Punjab Health Department has imposed smart lockdown in several areas of districts of Lahore, Gujranwala, and Gujarat given increasing cases of coronavirus. In this regard, a notification has been issued today by the Secretary of Primary and Secondary Health Care.
- 825 new coronavirus cases were detected in Punjab in the past 24 hours.
According to the notification, smart lockdown is being implemented in the areas where the positivity rate is higher. These include 20 neighborhoods in Gujranwala, 5 in Lahore, and 3 in Gujarat. It must be noted that the government had already sealed 12 areas of Lahore in the past week to curtail the spread of the deadly virus.
Of late, a significant surge in new cases is seen in Pakistan especially in Punjab. According to the statistics shared by the federal government, the latest Covid-19 situation of Punjab is as follows:
Total cases: 179K
New cases (last 24 hours): 825
Total deaths: 5,600
New deaths (last 24 hours): 35
Total recoveries: 167K
New recoveries (last 24 hours): 825
All shopping malls, restaurants, and offices in the locked areas will remain closed while all medical stores, hospitals, and clinics will remain open 24 hours a day.
In addition, milk shops, chicken shops, and bakeries will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., while grocery stores, general stores, flour mills, vegetable shops, tandoors, and petrol pumps will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
