Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Law Minister Sultan Mohammad Khan on Tuesday has tendered his resignation from the post after a leaked video surfaced which exposed the horse-trading during Senate elections in 2018.

The resignation was submitted by Sultan Khan hours after the Prime Minister Imran Khan had directed the KP chief minister Mahmood Khan to remove him from the post due to his alleged involvement in the horse-trading scandal.

Mahmood khan had earlier today asked Sultan to step aside and resign. Taking to Twitter, the KP chief said:

"As Chief Executive of KP, I've asked Law Minister Sultan Khan to step aside and resign, due to his alleged appearance in a video released on social media, to clear his name. We will, as per the vision of PM, uphold the highest standards of accountability & transparency in this province."

In the leaked video, lawmakers can be seen counting bundles of currencies and hiding them inside the bag. The money was allegedly used to buy the loyalties of 20 PTI members during the Senate elections of 2018.

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday, while reacting to the video, said that it depicts the shameful way in which politicians buy and sell votes in Senate. He also added that these videos reflect the total destruction of the nation's morality by successive ruling elites.
