Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar on Monday said that the Pakistan Army has no interest in politics and should not be dragged into it. DG ISPR said that the army is focused on keeping the country secure.

In a statement, the military spokesperson rubbished the rumors of the alleged involvement of the military with the 11 party opposition alliance by the name of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM). Maj Gen Iftikhar said the army is not in contact with anyone through backdoor channels.

The DG ISPR reiterated that the army has nothing to do with politics:

"It doesn’t suit anyone to talk about this without doing any research into the matter. If anyone has any evidence, it should be brought forth, else such rumors should stop."

The military spokesperson also updated the media about the on going search operation for Pakistani mountianeer Muhammad Ali Saddhpara, and his two compagnions John Snorri and JP Mohr. The three climbers went missing on Feburary 5 in an attempt to summit K-2 in winter.

DG ISPR while hailing Sadhpara a 'national hero' said that army will continue the search operation.
