Pakistan, along with nine other countries, has strongly condemned the Israeli assault on the Global Sumud Flotilla, which was carrying humanitarian aid for the blockaded Gaza enclave.

In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Turkey, Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Jordan, Libya, Maldives, and Spain expressed “grave concern” over Israel’s previous interventions against flotillas in international waters.

The ministers denounced the continued targeting of civilian vessels and humanitarian activists, describing the attacks and the arbitrary detention of participants as clear violations of international law and international humanitarian law.

They expressed serious concerns over the safety and security of civilian participants and called for the immediate release of all detained activists, urging full respect for their rights and dignity.

The ministers stressed that attacks on peaceful humanitarian initiatives reflect continued disregard for international law and freedom of navigation.

The ministers urged the international community to fulfil its legal and moral responsibilities, ensure the protection of civilians and humanitarian missions.

They also called upon it to take concrete steps to end impunity and ensure accountability for these violations
