The 11 party opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) is meeting today in Islamabad to devise a future strategy of action against the PTI-led government movement.

According to the details, the meeting will be chaired by PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman. The PDM is likely to announce big decisions for the next phase of its anti-government campaign. En masse resignations from assemblies, long marches, and no-confidence motion to send federal and Punjab government packing are the three options on the table, Business Recorder reported.

As per the reports, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Maryam Nawaz, and Fazal-ur-Rehman will attend the meeting in person, while PML-N Supreme Leader Nawaz Sharif and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Zardari will join via video link.

The former interior minister and senior PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal on Wednesday announced that big decisions are to be expected of today's meeting of PDM leadership. While speaking to the media, Iqbal said that the unified objective of the alliance is to oust Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Meanwhile, PPP's information secretary Shazia Atta, while speaking to the media, said that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's suggestion to produce a no-confidence motion against the government is perfectly aligned with PDM's resolution declared on September 20, 2020.

Crucial meeting for the alliance:

The meeting will be crucial because it will decide the future of the anti-government alliance. Differences between the PML-N and PPP leadership are quite visible. PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday had declared that PPP will have to be disbarred from PDM if it decides against the leadership's decision to submit resignations.

The anti-government coalition in December had announced to give resignations from National and provincial assemblies in a bid to build pressure on the government. However, PPP leadership encouraged the anti-government coalition not to haste the resignations.

Nawaz to convince PPP for en masse resignations:

The ousted prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif will personally reach out to the leaders of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) to reach a consensus on en masse resignations from the assemblies, local media reported on Wednesday.

According to Geo News, the former premier will speak to the former president and co-chairperson of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari and try to convince him to the proposed strategy of resigning en masse from the assemblies and marching down to Islamabad.
