The ousted prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif will personally reach out to the leaders of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) to reach a consensus on en masse resignations from the assemblies, local media reported on Wednesday.

According to Geo News, the former premier will speak to the former president and co-chairperson of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari and try to convince him to the proposed strategy of resigning en masse from the assemblies and marching down to Islamabad.

Sharif also held a telephonic conversation with the Jamat-e-Islami Fazal (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman, who also holds the post of the PDM chief. During their conversation, the two leaders discussed the PDM's future political strategy, reported Dunya News on Wednesday.

The decision for Sharif to personally approach PDM leadership came a day after PML-N leadership held a meeting at former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi's house to devise a future strategy of the anti-government drive.

The meeting was attended by senior PML-N leaders including Maryam Nawaz, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Ahsan Iqbal, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Javed Latif, Khawaja Saad Rafique, and Pervaiz Rasheed. PML-N supremo also addressed the meeting via video link. It was decided in the meeting to press PDM to announce the date of the long march in the upcoming meeting of the alliance.

PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday had declared that PPP will have to be disbarred from PDM if it decides against the leadership's decision to submit resignations.

The anti-government coalition in December had announced to give resignations from National and provincial assemblies in a bid to build pressure on the government. However, PPP leadership encouraged the anti-government coalition not to haste the resignations.

PML-Q backtracks on its commitment to help PDM topple the government:

The JUI-F chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman on Tuesday made a shocking revelation that PML-Q had promised to help PDM topple the PTI-led government in March.

The PDM chief made these claims while speaking on Aaj TV. In an interview with Asma Shairzai, Fazal-ur-Rehman said that the PML-Q made a commitment with the PDM leadership that they will help oust the current government in March 2021, however, they have backtracked on their commitment.

The JUI-F chief said that he doesn't find PML-Q's leadership trustworthy anymore.
