CTD thwarts major terror threat, siezes 10 hand grenades in operation
1 min readThe Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has thwarted a major terrorism bid in Khuzdar, Balochistan and seized 10 hand grenades from a passenger van, reported local media on Thursday.
According to the details, CTD officials raided a passenger van at the National Highway in Khuzdar after receiving a tip-off. The van was en route Khuzdar from Quetta. During the operation, the security personnel recovered10 hand grenades from two passengers on board.
Ary News, while quoting anonymous sources, said that the hand grenades were hidden in a tyre loaded in the van and were transported to be used in terrorist activities in the province.
On January 28, the counter-terrorism agency had arrested Abbas Jafri, the most-wanted terrorist of a proscribed organization, from Karachi during a search operation. The raiding team also confiscated weapons from his possession.
The CTD spokesperson said that the detained terrorist had received training from a neighboring country in 2014 where he was taught medical and intelligence services. The CTD briefed media that Jafri is also an automatic weapon specialist.
