An FIR has been registered against 150 workers of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) for violating the coronavirus Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during a rally in Rawalpindi on Sunday.

According to the details, PDM held a rally in Rawalpindi on Sunday on the instructions of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to demonstrate against the government’s crackdown on opposition workers. Responding to his call, more than 300 workers of Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz, Pakistan Peoples Party and JUI-F, and other parties marched towards Rawalpindi Press Club.

The Rawalpindi police registered a case against the participants including PML-N divisional president Dr Ziaur Rehman, Ameer of JUI Rawalpindi, PML-N metropolitan head Malik Ibrar and former mayor of Rawalpindi Sardar Nassem, and other workers on the complaint of Hamid Mahmood, a sanitary health inspector of the Rawalpindi Health Department.

Case lodged against 2500 people for violating COVID-19 SOPs during PML-N's Faisalabad convention:

Another FIR was registered against 2500 people on Sunday for violating coronavirus standard operating procedures (SOPs) during Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers’ convention in Faisalabad held on December 4.

According to details, the case was lodged against all participants at Sargodha Police Station. PML-N leaders Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Ahsan Iqbal, Rana Sanaullah, Awais Leghari, and others had participated in the convention.

PM Khan warns of legal action if SOPs are violated:

These FIRs were registered after Prime Minister Imran Khan, on Saturday, warned opposition parties that the government would not interrupt public gatherings of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) but legal action would be taken against organizers and facilitators of these gatherings as they were endangering the lives of people in the face of a sharp spike in coronavirus cases and deaths.
