ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Monday appeared before the Islamabad High Court (IHC)Â as the hearing into the Faizabad protest proceeded, Aaj News reported.Â
According to reports, the minister was not presented in the court as the hearing commenced to which IHC judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui expressed his displeasure.
Ahsan Iqbal was ordered to appear before the court in 15 minutes before the hearing was adjourned for a break.
In accordance with the court's order the Interior minister appeared before the court for hearing.
IHC has also summoned Director General Intelligence Bureau Aftab Sultan and secretary commander of the Inter-Services Intelligence.
Justice Siddiqui asked the interior minister to submit a detailed report of the operation conducted on Saturday and why it turned into a fiasco.
Chief Commissioner Zulfiqar Ahmed Bhutta read out the agreement between the government and the protesters to Justice Shaukat to which the judge the remarked that, we asked you to clear Faizabad interchange of protesters not to negotiate a deal with them.
On November 24, the IHC issued a contempt notice to Iqbal for not taking any steps to end the Faizabad sit-in that had entered its third week.
