The health authorities will launch the final polio vaccination campaign of the year on December 15, aiming to immunise children across the country.

The campaign, running until December 21, targets over 45.5 million children to receive oral polio drops.

Despite severe winter conditions, more than 400,000 frontline polio workers will visit door-to-door nationwide to ensure children are vaccinated.

Spokesperson for the Polio Eradication Programme Zia-ur-Rehman said that this year’s campaign will focus particularly on the southern areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Karachi, where vaccination efforts were being intensified.
